Mentoring Monday: Get the New Twitter Profile Page

Are you an educator who loves Twitter? Are you a new teacher who likes to stay ahead of the curve? Did you miss the Twitter announcement? It’s possible you did. No worries. Let me share how you can take advantage of the new changes in the layout of Profile Pages, and check out the new apps for mobile devices.

I love sharing content on Twitter and now I can share my Twitter profile page in an updated way. Twitter will start rolling out a new look and features in coming days. The roll out with the new look will take place over the next several weeks, and thanks to Mashable I’ve learned how to get the new profile page layout on the Twitter desktop web version without having to wait!

Twitter is SHARING this about the changes:

Express yourself by adding a beautiful new header photo to your new profile. It appears consistently above your Tweets on iPad, mobile apps and twitter.com, and you can change it anytime. You can also remember the moments you’ve shared on Twitter by swiping through your photo stream on your profile or tapping photos to go fullscreen.

Twitter says that over the next several weeks they will be moving all users over to the new look. Being the eager sharer that I am, I wanted my PLN (personal learning network) to get a head start on the new profile page layout on the desktop web version.

Here are the steps for early upgrade to the new twitter if you don’t want to wait:

  1. Download the new Twitter app to your smart phone, iPhone/iPad or Android.
  2. Then follow these steps via Mashable: How to Change Your Twitter Header Image.

3. Be sure to follow all the steps they share in the gallery to get your new header!

This is my new Twitter Profile Page since I made the change last week:

What do you think? I really like the new Twitter header update and the opportunities to change it, as I might my Facebook Profile Cover Pic. I liked that I could easily update it on my iPad and that it auto updated to my iPhone and the web! I also like that I can feature updated photos from presentations or conferences and share that as a great marketing piece for my consultancy.

I’ve already had several friends ask me lately how I changed my page, so I hope this step by step info helps. Let me know if you update your header and tweet it out to me @teachingwthsoul. I’d love to see your new profile and happy tweeting!
